1. Child sexual abuse and exploitation is prohibited
JeevanJodi prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in every form. Nobody may use JeevanJodi to create, upload, send, store, request or link to child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or to harm or exploit a child in any way.
This prohibition covers, among other things:
- any sexual image, video, text or audio involving a person under 18, including drawn or computer-generated material;
- grooming: building contact or trust with a child for a sexual purpose;
- sexual messages to, or sexual requests of, a child;
- sextortion: threatening or blackmailing a child using intimate images;
- trafficking of children, or offering or arranging a child for sexual purposes;
- arranging, promoting or seeking the marriage of a child;
- content that sexualises children, or that praises or encourages their abuse.
These rules apply to profiles, photos, messages, attachments and every other part of the service. They are part of our community guidelines and terms of service.
2. Adults only
- JeevanJodi is for people aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children.
- Every person registering must give a date of birth. Registration is refused on our servers if it shows an age under 18.
- A marriage profile also requires the legal minimum age of marriage in India: 18 for women and 21 for men.
- A profile is published only after our staff have reviewed a selfie and a government photo ID.
- Profiles of children, and profiles created on behalf of a child, are not allowed.
3. How to report a concern
In the app
- A Report option is available on every profile, photo, message and conversation.
- If you think a member may be a child, choose the reason "May be under the legal age".
- For any other child safety concern, choose "I am worried about my safety" or "Inappropriate photos or messages" and describe what you saw.
- Reports are confidential. The person you report is not told who reported them.
Without the app
Anyone can report a concern, whether or not they are a member. Email hello@jeevanjodi.net, or support@jeevanjodi.net. Tell us what you saw, the name shown on the profile if you know it, and when it happened.
Please do not send us the images or videos themselves, and do not share or forward them to anyone. Describe the content and where it is. Sharing such material, even to report it, can be an offence.
If a child is in danger
Contact the police first. In India, call 112. Childline, the helpline for children in India, is 1098. Online offences can be reported to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal at cybercrime.gov.in, or by calling 1930.
4. What we do with a report
- High-priority case. A report that a member may be under age, or a safety concern, opens a high-priority case for our moderation staff. We aim to review reports within 24 hours.
- Restriction. While a case is reviewed, we can restrict the account so that it cannot contact other members.
- Content removal. Content that breaks these standards is removed from the service.
- Ban. An account found to belong to a child is closed. An account found to have engaged in child sexual abuse or exploitation is banned, and the same mobile number is prevented from registering again.
- Preservation. We preserve the relevant records for the authorities and exclude them from routine deletion while a legal hold applies.
5. Reporting to the authorities
We report child sexual abuse material and child sexual exploitation to the appropriate authorities as required by applicable law. In India this includes reporting to law enforcement, including through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. Where applicable, we also report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). We respond to lawful requests from law enforcement.
