Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of JeevanJodi. Please read them before you register.

1. The service

JeevanJodi is a matrimonial service. It helps adults who intend to marry, and their families, to find and get to know a prospective spouse. It is not a dating service and must not be used as one.

JeevanJodi is operated by NioDelta Web Studio, with its registered address at Nasik, Maharashtra, India. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean the operator.

We introduce members to each other. We do not arrange marriages, we are not a party to any marriage or engagement, and we do not promise that you will find a match.

2. Who may join

To use JeevanJodi you must:

  • be at least 18 years old. Registration is refused for anyone younger;
  • be of the legal age of marriage in India to hold a marriage profile: 18 for women and 21 for men;
  • be legally free to marry, and genuinely intend to marry;
  • not have been banned from JeevanJodi before.

A parent, sibling, relative or friend may create and manage a profile for someone else only with that person's knowledge and consent. The person the profile describes must meet the conditions above.

3. Your account

  • You register and sign in with your own mobile number and a one-time passcode. Do not share passcodes with anyone.
  • You may have one account. Keep your mobile number up to date.
  • You are responsible for what is done through your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.

4. Your profile and content

  • Everything on your profile must be true, current and about the person the profile describes. This includes age, marital status, education, occupation and photos.
  • Photos must be recent photos of the person the profile describes. Do not upload photos of other people without their permission.
  • You keep ownership of what you upload. You give us permission to store it, process it and show it to other members as the service requires, within your privacy settings, for as long as it remains on the service.
  • We may review, hide or remove content that breaks these terms or the community guidelines.

5. Verification

Before a profile is published we ask for a selfie and a government photo ID, which our staff review. A verification badge means those checks were completed on the documents submitted. It is not a background check, and it is not a guarantee of a member's identity, character, marital status, income or intentions.

You remain responsible for your own decisions. Take your time, involve people you trust, and read our safety tips.

6. How members must behave

You agree to follow the community guidelines, which form part of these terms. In particular, you must not:

  • give false information or pretend to be someone else;
  • ask any member for money, gifts, loans, investments or dowry;
  • harass, threaten or abuse anyone;
  • share sexual, obscene or hateful content;
  • use the service if you are already married, or for any purpose other than seeking marriage;
  • use the service for advertising, selling or recruiting;
  • copy, scrape or share other members' profiles, photos or messages outside the service;
  • try to get around a block, a sanction or a technical limit, or interfere with the service.

We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. See our child safety standards.

7. Family Co-pilot

You may invite a family member as a Family Co-pilot. You choose their permissions and can remove them at any time. A co-pilot can view what you allow, suggest profiles and add notes. A co-pilot cannot act on your behalf and cannot read your conversations. A co-pilot must also follow these terms.

8. Plans and payments

  • A free plan is available. It has daily limits, which are shown in the app.
  • Paid plans are not on sale yet, and online payment is not enabled. When paid plans are offered, the price, taxes, duration, features and refund terms will be shown in the app before you pay, and those details will form part of your purchase.
  • Plans do not renew automatically. Renewing a plan is a separate purchase that you choose to make.
  • Getting engaged or married never leads to a fee or penalty.

See cancellation and refunds.

9. Reports, sanctions and appeals

  • Any member can report a profile, photo, message or conversation, and can block another member. Reports are confidential.
  • If we find that these terms or the guidelines were broken, we may remove content, give a warning, restrict features, suspend the account or ban it. A suspension or ban takes effect only after a second member of staff approves it.
  • We tell you when a sanction is applied and the general reason. We do not disclose who reported you or the evidence.
  • You may appeal a sanction from the Safety Centre in the app within 30 days. A different member of staff reviews the appeal.
  • A ban applies to the account, and we may prevent the same mobile number from registering again.
  • We may report unlawful conduct to the authorities, and we respond to lawful requests from them.

10. Pausing and ending

  • You can pause your profile at any time. It is hidden while paused.
  • You can delete your account at any time in the app, or through the account deletion page. Your profile is hidden at once and the account is erased after 14 days unless you cancel. The privacy policy explains what is deleted and what is kept.
  • We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, as described in section 9.
  • We may change, pause or stop parts of the service. If we plan to close the service, we will give members reasonable notice in the app.

11. Our responsibility

  • We provide the service with reasonable care. We do not promise that it will always be available or free of errors.
  • Members are responsible for the truth of what they say about themselves. We check the documents described in section 5 and act on reports, but we cannot confirm every statement a member makes.
  • We are not responsible for the conduct of members on or off the service, or for the outcome of any introduction, meeting, engagement or marriage.
  • Nothing in these terms removes any right you have under consumer protection or other law that cannot be excluded by agreement.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Nasik, Maharashtra have jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any right you have under consumer law to bring a claim elsewhere.

Before going to court, please let us try to resolve the matter. Contact support or write to our grievance officer; see the grievance page.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the service or the law changes. We will change the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will tell members in the app and ask you to accept the new version before you continue.
